A significant portion of frontend developers, around 90%, in our team leverage AI assistants for coding tasks. Initially, many of us experience the thrill of generating impressive MVPs in mere minutes, leading to a sense of wonder about the technology. However, this excitement can quickly turn into frustration when the AI struggles with specific frameworks or libraries. My name is Valery Baranov, and I lead the frontend technology team at Yandex 360. We focus on what we call 'shared frontend'—developing common technical components, CI/CD processes, and distribution platforms for shared components. In this article, I will share how we at Yandex 360 made our frontend projects truly AI-ready. We trained our AI assistants to comprehend the structure of our repositories, utilize internal libraries effectively, and adhere to the design system patterns. By implementing these strategies, we significantly improved the interaction between our AI tools and the frontend development process.
