Google Ads is rolling out a new feature aimed at enhancing the viewer experience for Performance Max video advertisements. This update utilizes sophisticated AI voice technology to add realistic voice-overs to video ads, thereby boosting user interaction and overall ad effectiveness. Advertisers should note that if they do not opt out by March 20, their video ads will automatically incorporate these AI voice models, altering the audio experience for viewers without any additional creative input required. The AI voice-over feature activates only for videos that lack an existing voice track. It works by selecting text from the headlines and descriptions provided by advertisers, generating a natural-sounding voice-over, and overlaying it onto the original video, resulting in a new video asset. Importantly, this feature is set to opt-out by default, meaning that unless advertisers take steps to disable it, their ads will be eligible for this enhancement. To avoid this automatic inclusion, advertisers must adjust their settings in Google Ads before the deadline. This update was first highlighted by Paid Search expert Arpan Banerjee on LinkedIn.
