Google is set to implement changes to its target-based bidding strategies, particularly for campaigns facing budget limitations. This update, effective from August 17, aims to enhance the consistency of campaign performance in relation to advertiser objectives. A new tool, the Bid Target Adjustment Tool, will be available starting July 6, allowing advertisers to assess and modify their bidding targets prior to the changes taking effect. With this update, campaigns utilizing strategies like Target CPA will be more closely aligned with their defined targets, even when budgets fluctuate. Advertisers should be aware that campaigns exceeding their CPA or ROAS goals may not maintain those levels automatically post-update. For instance, a campaign with a Target CPA of $10 that is currently achieving $5 CPA might see its performance shift towards the $10 target unless adjustments are made. Google emphasizes that this change is intended to minimize performance volatility and provide a more predictable outcome as budgets are adjusted. Advertisers are encouraged to review their target settings to ensure they reflect current business goals, as the new tool will assist in identifying potentially impacted campaigns.
