Google Accelerates Q Day Deadline to 2029

Google has significantly advanced its timeline regarding Q Day, the critical juncture when quantum computing capabilities could undermine the public-key cryptography that safeguards sensitive information for various sectors, including governments and financial institutions. In a recent announcement, the tech giant revealed that it aims to be ready by 2029. This shift underscores the urgency for global entities to adopt post-quantum cryptography (PQC) solutions to replace vulnerable algorithms like RSA and elliptic curves. Heather Adkins, Google’s VP of security engineering, and cryptography engineer Sophie Schmieg emphasized the company's role in leading the charge towards this transition.
