New Christian Phone Network Launches to Block Adult and Gender Content

A new mobile network catering to Christians is preparing for its debut next week, aiming to provide a safe digital environment by blocking access to pornography and gender-related content. This initiative marks a significant move in the U.S. telecommunications landscape, as it employs network-level restrictions that cannot be bypassed, even by adult subscribers. The service, operated by Radiant Mobile, will also offer a filter for sexual content, which will be enabled by default but can be adjusted by users. Radiant Mobile's founder, Paul Fisher, emphasizes the network's goal of creating a Jesus-centered platform devoid of explicit material. The network is currently undergoing testing ahead of its May 5 launch. Fisher has engaged Christian influencers and churches to promote the service, which includes a subscription model that allows for donations to congregations. The technology behind the blocking is managed by Allot, which categorizes websites into various groups, including those related to violence and self-harm. Critics point out the potential for subjective decision-making in content categorization, particularly concerning gender issues. Fisher's vision extends beyond the U.S., with plans to expand into countries with large Christian populations.
