Greetings! With nearly 15 years in the field of developing innovative medications and diagnostic tools, I've witnessed the arrival of new technologies that sparked hopes of eradicating diseases. While advancements in genetic engineering, immuno-oncology, and molecular biology have led to groundbreaking therapies, many illnesses remain untreatable. At one point, artificial intelligence was seen as a potential cure-all, with figures like Zuckerberg and Gates suggesting it could replace many healthcare professionals. However, as in various sectors, the initial excitement has given way to a more realistic understanding of AI's limitations. In this piece, I aim to share a traditional scientist's perspective on the hype surrounding neural networks and the bold claims about AI taking over human roles.
